It’s almost August, which means we’re getting closer and closer to the start of fall practices. Until then, here are some Bruins-related links to feed those craving anything to do with football.
- Taylor Embree has been trying his hand at blogging for UCLA’s official website. His latest installment of “82 Review” was published last Thursday, and he discusses conditioning tests and 7-on-7 drills.
- This is a little late, but better late than never I guess. The destination of former UCLA commit Josh Shirley has been announced. Shirley, along with Paul and Shaquille Richardson, was dismissed from the program by Rick Neuheisel last month. The linebacker is staying in the Pac-10, as he will be playing for Washington this fall. Shirley and the Richardson made a terrible decision and they ultimately paid for it by being dismissed. Hopefully they will grow from it and stay out of trouble from here on out. Though Shirley is heading to a conference rival, we should still wish him the best of luck at UDub. As for the Richardsons, it is not yet known where they will be playing. Junior college would seem to be the best route at the moment, and that would allow them to possibly earn their way back to UCLA by not getting into further trouble and performing in the classroom.
- Lastly, Rivals.com has been ranking the top 100 players in 2010. Two UCLA players (kicker Kai Forbath and linebacker Akeem Ayers at No.67) have appeared on the list so far, which is currently up to No.38. Expect Rahim Moore to land somewhere between 20-30.
