The Bears signed quarterback Matt Gutierrez to a reserve/future contract on Friday.

Gutierrez, an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2007 out of Idaho State, spent part of the 2010 preseason with the Bears.  In six appearance with the Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, he completed the only two NFL passes he’s thrown.

Guiterrez will likely compete for a roster spot next season with Caleb Hanie and whoever the Bears bring in.
