The Bears prepared for their opponent the Tampa Bay Bucs game in London, like it was just a normal work week.

The positive is they will be mentally prepared like it was just another game in the states.

The negative is players won’t get much time to adjust to the six hour difference between Chicago and London.

Two years ago, the Tampa Bay Bucs traveled to London on a Friday and didn’t arrive till Saturday. They lost the game 35-7 to the New England Patriots on that Sunday.

Perhaps the Patriots were the better team at the time. The time change is something to get used to, but the Bears are professional football team, they know what they’re doing.

The Bucs on the other hand may be thinking they made a big mistake back in the 2009 London game.

Bears head coach Lovie Smith could be outsmarting Bucs head coach Raheem Morris with this move, or he could be making a mistake.

Sunday will reveal everything about Lovie’s decision. Here’s what he had to say about it:

“You can get as much rest as you need,” Smith said. “We’re going to end up playing the game at 12 o’clock, Chicago time. I don’t think that’s an issue at all. I think normally when you go overseas, I think the best football team normally wins. It’s as simple as that. That’s what will happen this time around.”

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler agrees, here’s what he said to the media this week:

“I never traveled over there to play a football game,” Cutler said. “We’re going to get two good days of work here. We’re going to go over Thursday night and get ready to play.”
