Bears Push for Playoffs
After some computer technical issues, I’m back. How did I ever manage without my laptop?
The Bears had a strong win last night at the Scope against Norfolk. It is great to see the power play clicking and this marks the longest winning streak since December. The Bears will need to continue this effort as both the Binghamton Senators and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers keep winning.
Let’s look at the schedule for all three teams:
BEARS: 9 games (@Bridgeport, Hamilton, Manchester, @Binghamton, Bridgeport, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, @Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Binghamton)
SENATORS: 8 games (@Philadelphia, @Rochester, @Syracuse, Hershey, Springfield, Norfolk, @Syracuse, @Hershey)
SOUND TIGERS: 11 game (Hershey, Wilkes-Barre, Hartford, @Manchester, Philadelphia, @Hershey, @Philadelphia, @Wilkes-Barre, Lowell, @Hartford, Hartford).
Looking at this, the Bears have their fate in their hands. Four of their last nine games are against the two teams fighting for the last playoff spot the Bears hold.
Binghamton has the least amount of games to play. Bridgeport has the toughest schedule playing Hershey, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre, and Hartford each twice. Hershey’s game at Bridgeport can give the Bears plenty of breathing room if they can pull out a win.
Now to some ramblings………..
- Sasha Pokoluk was reassigned to South Carolina in the ECHL. While I have been a supporter, I think some post season experience in the “Coast” will be more valuable than sitting in the rafters in Hershey.
- Sami Lepisto gets my vote for team MVP. Just look at the Bears record while he was on recall in Washington.
- Am I the only one who hates the fact that you have to root for or against a team making it to overtime? Shouldn’t a win be worth a win and a loss a loss - regardless if they make it to overtime or not. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject.
- Is it a coincidence that the Bears started winning after a visit from Bruce Boudreau?
- Freddie Cassivi is playing his best hockey all season. There is nothing more valuable to have your veteran goaltender playing his best hockey down the stretch and heading into the playoffs.
That’s all today. Check back for more frequent posts. Also, post your comments and if anyone would be interested in sharing their rants and ramblings, post your interest and I’ll share how to get in contact with me.
Two big games this weekend. Don’t forget Sunday is dollar dog day!
