Morning Notes: Chapman, Orioles, Floyd, Astros
- According to the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers are still interested in Cuban super-prospect Aroldis Chapman, but it reamins unclear if the team has the money to get into a bidding war with the Red Sox and Yankees.
- After breaking down the clutchest players of 2009 for the whole MLB, Daniel narrowed his focus onto the Orioles at Camden Crazies. This is not the place to debate the merits of clutch (don’t get me started), so let’s try to keep it civil in the comments.
- Gavin Floyd told reporters that the injury that ended his season “was a pain in the butt“. The official medical report from the White Sox indicated it was pain in his left hip, and Floyd is recovering nicely from it. In too cool to be true news, Floyd actually grew up across the street from Mark Teixeira when they were kids.
- In an effort to get to know each other, the Astros coaching staff met in Arizona yesterday for the first time. With a new manager in town, he needs to get to know his other coaches early and often. The Astros do not, however, have a full staff, as they are still looking for a bullpen coach.
