Magic Need A Win In A Crucial Game 5

Who thought this series would be at 2 games a piece after 4? I sure didn't.

Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis need to step their game up. Especially Hedo Turkoglu if he decides to look for more money this summer and wants the Magic to think about resigning him if he opts out of his contract. As of right now Turkoglu is averaging just 12.5 points per contest throughout the playoffs, well below his season mark of 16.8 points per game. Rashard Lewis is doing better than Turkoglu--barely. Lewis is averging 15.5 points per game through the playoffs and is making only 38% of his field goals. He needs to step it up and prove that he deserves that 6 year/$118 million contract he got himself 2 years ago. Sure both players are dealing with some nagging injuries but it is the Playoffs. Step it up.

On a brighter note the Magic are showing some signs that they are waking up from their slump they have been dealing with since the end of the season that carried over into the playoffs. Hedo Turkoglu's hit a last second 3 pointer over Thaddeus Young with 1.1 seconds left in game 4 that sealed the Magic win to even the best of seven series 2-2 versus the six seaded Philidelphia 76er's. Orlando will be looking to carry that momentum over from game 4 into tonight's contest on their home court.

Philidelphia will be doing whatever they can tonight to prevent the feeling of deja vu. Last year the 76er's were up 2-1 in the first round of the playoffs versus Detroit and ended up loosing the best of 7 series in 6, ending their season on a bad note.

Philidephia will come in to the Amway Arena tonight with the confidence that they can win, they have already beat Orlando at home in Game 1 and have been in contention until the end of the game in each of their 2 losses against the Magic in the postseason.

The 76ers' will continue to look for good play from their two headed playoff monster, the Two Andre's. Iguodala has had Orlando's number so far this post season hitting a clutch game winner in game one and is averaging close to 21 points per game so far  with similar numbers from Andre Miller.

Philidelphia better look to come out swinging tonight because I am sure Dwight Howard and company will be ready to get back to the Magic basketball that got them 59 wins this season which include a perfect 3-0 record against Philidelphia. Go Magic!

The Magic Look To Take On The Bucks Shorthanded Tonight.

The Orlando Magic will be taking on the Milwaukee Bucks on the road tonight in the Bradley Center. The Magic have lost 4 of their last 7 games and will be looking to try and get to the .500 mark in April tonight without their two starting fowards Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis. Orlando's starting small forward Hedo Turkoglu sustained a sprained left ankle in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's loss to New Jersey 103-93. Turkoglu was helped off the court by trainer's and recieved an x-ray on his injured ankle which luckly for Magic fans came up negative. Coach Stan Van Gundy has opted to sit Turkoglu tonight in Milwaukee to prevent any furthur injury to his ankle so close to the start of the playoffs. The Magic will also be without Rashard Lewis who Van Gundy is sitting to allow him to rest his legs. Lewis has... Read more

Jameer Nelson, The Eastern Conference Player of The Week

When Dwight Howard went out of the line-up after an injury he sustained against the Suns last week the Magic needed someone to step up and take control of the offense, that player was Jameer Nelson. Nelson was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week Monday after putting up career numbers over four games. The fifth year point guard out of St. Joseph's scored a career high 32 points against the Golden State Warriors last Monday giving him a good start to his week. He followed up with strong performances against Sacramento scoring 24 points and Los Angeles Saturday night scoring 27. During the last four games Nelson has averaged over 26 points. This is Nelson's first time being named Player of the Week. Fresh off his award, Nelson played Monday night keeping his hot hand rolling, going 9-9 shooting including 4 three pointers racking up 22 points in... Read more

Magic-Warriors Preview

Tonight the red hot Orlando Magic(21-6), who have won eight out of their last ten games, will take on the Golden State Warriors(8-20) for the second time in a week. The Magic won the first game vs. the Warriors without Dwight Howard, who was resting a sore left knee, with strong performances from Jameer Nelson(32 points, 5-9 3pts) and Marcin Gortat(16 points, 13 rebs), who both scored career highs. The Magic are in the middle of a four game home stint against Western Conference powerhouses including the Lakers, Spurs and Hornets. Orlando is trying to prove to skeptics that they are real contenders in the East and can compete with the top teams in the league. Golden State is not having the year they were expecting. They are currently 8-20, sitting in the fourth spot in the Pacific Division. Golden State, who finished 48-34 last season, is not the same... Read more

Magic keep finding ways to win

The Magic haven't played great basketball lately. They have let big leads collapse, have fallen far behind and really don't have a signature win to speak of. Despite a lack of jaw dropping play, Orlando has an impressive 11-4 record and is currently amongst the top teams in the NBA. I guess the main culprit of Orlando's .733 win percentage is a flimsy schedule. The team has played only three teams that stand over .500 and have lost to each one, but the one thing I can say is that it is an improvement over last season. The Magic have beaten teams they should beat, something that we really haven't seen over the past few years. The team is learning to win close games, even if it is against mediocre teams. That doesn't mean that they are shutting out games (blowing big leads is still Orlando's forte) but when the... Read more

Magic show toughness against Dallas

Orlando's victory over Dallas last night was pretty indicative of the early season for the Magic; it wasn't pretty, but the team managed to find a way to get things done, winning 102-100. The win spells the first time Orlando has gotten a win in Dallas in over a decade. The Magic, usually the one blowing leads, climbed back from a 15-point deficit in the second-half to defeat the 2-7 Mavericks. Dwight Howard, who is averaging nearly 23 points, 15 boards, four blocks and one steal, had a quiet game by his standards, putting up 18, 13 and two. That means that for one of the first times this season, a group of Magic players had to pick it up and that's exactly what happened. Rashard Lewis stepped up, logging 23 points and nine rebounds. Jameer Nelson added 21 and Mickael Pietrus had 20, nailing two huge treys towards the... Read more

I'm back...

Obviously, I have been missing for a while. For that I apologize. Even worse, this isn't my first time apologizing for that, but I am here to assure all of our readers that I am back and for good. Since MVN revamped its new format, I was having a difficult time logging in and just recently got that figured out. To add onto that, I took a job with the Examiner. I was finding it difficult to balance both sites, but I think I have found out a way to do so. So with that out of the way, I think it is time to start talking Magic ball again. The team is 6-3 and there is plenty to talk about, so I'll be getting my first article of the season out shortly. Again, I apologize to Damien, Dean, Magic92 and everyone else that regularly visited the site this summer;... Read more

Magic notes and thoughts

It’s the dog days of summer folks and there isn’t much to talk about. Trade rumors have died down and obviously free agency has come to a halt, so for now I guess some random thoughts are in order…and here we go. • 11 nationally televised games is nice. LeBron James and the Cavs have 24 though, so I guess Dwight’s star power isn’t quite there yet. • My top five games to look forward to this season… 5.)@ Washington, March 13th- It’s Friday the 13th, so anything can happen. This is the last regular season meeting between the two teams, and with a month left in the season at this time, it could be a big game for first place in the division IF both teams are healthy. 4.) Cleveland, April 8th- The game will be on ESPN, so it will be another chance for Orlando to beat up... Read more
