Could The Hornets' Interest in Glen Davis Lead To Something Bigger?

McDyess headed to San Antonio.Wallace officially signs.Andersen re-signs with Denver for five years.I love Glen Davis. No, wait -- I LOVE Glen Davis. And apparently, so do the Hornets. New Orleans is reportedly keen on the restricted free agent, but is tied up with money issues which push them further behind in the race for (Big) Baby. From Marc Spears:According to an NBA source this morning, Davis is receiving interest from Boston, San Antonio, Detroit and New Orleans. San Antonio and Detroit are pursuing Detroit free-agent forward Antonio McDyess. The team left without McDyess could immediately turn its attention to Davis. While the Hornets are very interested, financial concerns limit them to only a possible sign-and-trade deal for Davis. Now who on the Hornets could we possibly be interested in? Well, here's a not-so-subtle hint from one of the first commentators who offered thoughts on the Spears article:"Sign and deal for... Read more

Analysis of Boston's Addition of Rasheed Wallace

As you all know, the Celtics negotiated with free agent forward Rasheed Wallace, who has verbally agreed to join the C's, and looks to sign a two-year deal for the full mid-level exception on Wednesday. The addition of Sheed will impact the team in a way I can't yet figure out. His off-court attitude will certainly be a problem, especially if he's going to be with us for two years (unless trades or injuries change that). But it's been said that teammates love him and guys think he's a winner. After all, Kevin Garnett did hunt him down. After the jump, analysis on the great Rasheed Wallace (kidding on the "great" part guys, no need to bash me... or is there?).... Read more

Tanguay: Davis' Boston Days Coming to an End

I reported that last night it looked liked San Antonio would be the destination for Glen Davis. I have recently learned through a league source that  Orlando is stepping up as well. Conversations with both the Spurs and Magic have picked up speed. I think it is safe to say Big Baby has played his last days in Boston...my opinion -- Gary TanguayWell, as Jeff Clark said, Tanguay's opinion/gut feeling hasn't always been so trustworthy. But considering the amount of rumors out there right now, I'll have to agree with him on this one.Glen Davis is claiming that he wouldn't get his desired amount of minutes in Boston with Wallace and possibly Grant Hill signing. I'm sure he's demanding too much money than the Celtics can hand out as well, along with other factors we haven't yet learned. As for Grant Hill, I'm almost positive he'd improve our championship chances. Although... Read more

How Good is Portland?

Wallace committing to C's.Ever since the 2007 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers have been a team the NBA has kept an eye on. That mere "eye" became "eyes," and the quick sideglance at the team became a stare as the Blazers went on a 13-game winning streak in 2007-08 without Greg Oden, whom they drafted first overall in the 2007 Draft. Oden was out for the year with injuries, but was supposed to return the subsequent season. The next season the Blazers finished fourth in the Western Conference, compiling a 58-24 record, as well as having Greg Oden for 61 games. Unfortunately for the fans in Rip City, the Blazers were ousted from the playoffs by a red-hot Houston Rockets team. They are looking at a number of players to acquire this offseason. Hedo Turkoglu had reportedly been in verbal agreement with the Blazers to sign a contract just days... Read more

Wallace Committing to C's

Globe is reporting:An NBA source said tonight forward Rasheed Wallace has committed to sign with the Celtics Wednesday, the first day free agents are eligible to sign. "Once (Wallace) had a chance to reflect on everything, and realizing what his objectives are, he just decided this was the best fit for him, all the way around," said Bill Strickland, Wallace's agent. Wallace is expected to receive a two-year deal using the mid-level exception (expected to be about $5.6 million to $5.8 million). The Celtics All-Star trio of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce, owner Wyc Grousbeck, coach Doc Rivers, and president Danny Ainge met with Wallace last week. Wallace turned down overtures from Orlando and San Antonio to commit to Boston. That's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it, uh huh uh huh!We love you, you big (expletive)!!... Read more

Update: Cuban Denies Wanting Glen Davis, Jeff Clark Talks About Celtics' Interest in Old Free Agents

CelticsBlog: Old school planMark Cuban on Twitter:"contrary to reports, the Mavs are not pursuing Glenn Davis. Great player, but we like our guys"Insight: Well thank you Mark. I had nightmares about you signing Davis for a ridiculous amount of money. PS. It's spelled Glen, not Glenn.... Read more
