Pacers Recap - Celtics Make It Clear

If Rondo plays like this, he could be wearing that shirt again - notinmyzone

The Celtics demolished the Pacers last night 114-96. The starting five looked more like the all-star starting five, but the bench came up short, most likely because of shortened minutes. Kevin Garnett finally blew up, getting 26 points and 14 rebounds on 11-14 shooting. Perkins had another excellent game when they needed him, getting 16 points and 10 rebounds. Pierce had a quiet yet effective night getting 16 points, 5 rebounds and 1 blocked shot. Three turnovers could have hurt the Celtics though if it was a close game.

The Stars: The backcourt of Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED the Pacers. Ray Allen got 31 points of 11-18 shooting and he was 6-9 from three point range. Rajon Rondo, getting his first triple-double ever (and of many more to come), had a stat-line which consisted of 16 points, 17 assists, and 13 rebounds. He was brilliant in both the open court and the fast-break. Which brings us to this. As I have said many times, he is the next Jason Kidd. He rebounds, scores, runs, and plays defense. He's a leader, and he can dominate a game even though he is only 21 years of age. Although he isn't a great shooter, it's coming. Plus with Ray Allen shooting like that, he may not need too.

The Dogs: The bench didn't play like they usually do last night. The highest point total was three points, by Scal. Like I said before, this may be because limited minutes, but Eddie House still played 15:40, Scal played 14:55, and Glen Davis played 13:50. Like I said with Pierce's turnovers, if this had been a close game, this would have decided the game. But of course, if it was a close game, the bench might have had more energy and minutes.

Next they play the Trail Blazers at home. The game will be at 8:00 PM on ESPN. Should be a good one!

Other important games: Lakers beat 76'ers 114-102. Hornets beat Suns 104-91. Heat beat Jazz 93-89.
