Shaq trade was great for Phoenix

I feel that the Shaq trade was great for Phoenix. Having played against him so many times before, I know what he brings. The Suns are going to get a huge boost from Shaq.
I know people have been saying things like he can’t run any longer, etc…but I feel that he will surprise a lot of people. He is one of the best big men this league has ever seen. When he says he will win, he backs it up.
I’m very happy that they made the trade for him. Go Suns!!!!!!!

Doug, when you played against him, he was great! Things have changed since then. I don’t want to make any presumptions without seeing how they run the system, but the thing I find most laughable is that the Suns want him to be “a defensive presence.”
That’s his greatest weakness! He’s never been a premier shotblocker, and he can’t move his feet to help out on attempts to the rim (which is why he’s always in foul trouble).
I understand you’ve forgotten a lot more about NBA basketball than I will ever know, but I can’t see why everyone is so excited about this deal yet.

Is Shaq a hall of famer, yes. Did he win another ring, yes. But, he did nothing against Dallas. Wade won that ring and it also helped that Dallas did not show up and that Wade averaged 40 points a game. What it comes done to is what have you done lately, and that is what is all about and the reality is he hs done nothing. He has never been a defensive stopper or even a big rebounder, Sorry Phoenix, Great trade.

You have to think about everything that factors into a game before you can say a player has done nothing. Shaqs prescence alone creates opportunities, so while on paper, it may seem like he isn’t accomplishing nothing, tell that to the guys that have to cover him.

Lets see take an aging former all star, who is overweight, slow and can’t play defense and put him on an up tempo team that prefers to run and gun. Yeah, thats a winning combination. Asking Steve Nash and the rest of the Phoenix Suns to play a slow half court game is a mistake. We might as well tie their legs together and ask them to play.
DC I am glad you like Shaq but the trade is a big mistake watch him play a little before you tell us what a great trade this is. Don’t take this personal but I think a great deal of your comments are based on your friendships or the fact that you might run into guys like Shaq and C-Webb in a club and don’t want to bad mouth them. The truth is obvious if you watch them play!

Hey Doug. I totally agree with you that the trade for Shaq was great for Phoenix. Not only does he give them a big body to plug in the middle but he free’s up Amare Stoudemire to really creep in and do some damage.
But I think when all is said and done, the sleeper acquisition this year will be Gordan Giricek for the Suns. He has awoke from a sleeping nightmare in Utah and is just playing so solid for them. Really gives them alot off the bench.
Take care brotha’
