Foyt Racing rolls out second car for Jeff Simmons
Former Rahal Letterman racer to drive No. 41
Jeff Simmons will attempt to crack the Indianapolis 500 field for A.J. Foyt Racing. The former driver for Rahal Letterman Racing has been driving in the Firestone Indy Lights series, but he’ll be back in the big cars for the second weekend of qualifying at the Speedway.
Simmons, who was replaced in July 2007 by Ryan Hunter-Reay in RLR’s No. 17 Ethanol-sponsored car, will drive the No. 41 ABC Supply machine for A.J. Foyt Racing alongside Darren Manning in the No. 14 entry. The American will attempt to make his fourth Indy start. His highest finish at the Brickyard came last year, when he finished 11th.

Great comment on Gordon Kirby. I started reading his stuff a few years ago and hoped his doomsday banter would end with the split. It didn’t. I guess in addition to being a great writer he’s just a grumpy old man.
