Fourteen manufacturers/builders represented at IndyCar engine summit
IRL targets 2011 for new chassis/engine formula
As expected with something that’s closed to the media, we’re not getting a whole lot of news on today’s IndyCar Series engine summit at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But the IRL has thrown us a bone with a story on IndyCar.com.
While it lacks in details, it does have a few tidbits. Earlier this week, Robin Miller of SPEED Channel said that we’d be seeing as many as nine engine manufacturers and builders, but the IRL is reporting that a whopping 14 were represented at the round-table discussion (four were unable to attend due to scheduled conflicts). Also, all parties present are interested in a second meeting in the near-future.
How I would’ve loved to have been a fly in that room today…Anyway, we also know that Brian Barnhart and Terry Angstadt were on today’s IRL teleconference. I was unable to get involved with that, but I’m on the look-out for the transcript right now. I’ll post it when I get it.
UPDATE (4:45 p.m. ET) : Got it!
