Hell freezes over: Forsythe Racing joins the IRL
Former Champ Car stalwart Gerry Forsythe, who shut down his Forsythe Championship Racing team earlier this season after the Grand Prix of Long Beach, has decided to expand his current operation (which is running in the Atlantics feeder series) to Firestone Indy Lights in 2009.
Jeff Pappone of The Globe and Mail says that this is fueling speculation that Forsythe and current IndyCar Series team owner Kevin Kalkhoven are trying to sell off the Atlantics series that they co-own. However, Forsythe VP of operations Neil Micklewright says that the team plans to run in both the Atlantics and the FIL series.
This is coming out as Forsythe’s former Champ Car World Series driver Paul Tracy is set to take a one-race IndyCar deal with Vision Racing at the Rexall Edmonton Indy later this month.
Hopefully, we’ll have more on this situation later on today…
