A Minor Consideration

A’s Links and Notes Around the Web

  • Here’s a nice photo supplement to the fine work Ryan Armbrust is doing.
  • Scout.com’s Melissa Lockard says the A’s are looking at a bright future.
  • SFGate.com’s Susan Slusser says other teams scouts’ are watching Rich Harden. She also says Fautino De Los Santos, acquired in the Swisher-to-Chicago deal, hit 97 miles per hour in his spring debut.
  • How important are spring statistics? In Todd Linden’s case, not very. But shouldn’t the A’s be concerned with another poor outing from Keith Foulke. Here’s to hoping Sacramento Rivercat fans get to see a little bit of Joey Devine before he gets to the show and replaces Foulke.
  • The Hardball Times asks five unanswered questions about the A’s.

ESPN Chat: A’s edition

Jeff (Oakland):Thoughts on Dana Eveland? I think he can be a real solid back of the rotation guy this year and perhaps become a no. 3 or even no. 2 starter if he starts throwing more strikes, something we know the A’s will stress.

Baseball America’s Jim Callis: Well, it’s not like the 29 other teams don’t ask their pitchers to throw strikes. Eveland has a good arm, and if he improves his decication, he could be a nice back-of-the-rotation starter for Oakland. I think becoming a No. 3 is an extreme best-case scenario.

Wow! Jared Lansford looks just like his father in the link with the pictures. I had flashbacks of his father when I was a kid. Is there any chance young Lansford ever makes the biggs?
