Yusmeiro Petit struck out 10 in 6 strong innings and Jamie D’Antona continued his hot hitting for the Sidewinders.

Petit allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits to win his first game since his demotion.  He struck out 10 and walked none.  D’Antona led the 16 hit attack, going 3-4 with his 6th homer.  He drove in 2 runs and scored twice.  In his last 10 games, D’Antona is hitting 17-32 (.531) with 5 homers, 9 RBIs and 11 runs scored.  Everyone in the lineup got at least a hit with 5 players getting 2 hits.

The BayBears suffered another heart-breaking extra-innings loss to the Diamond Jaxx.  They had scored 3 runs in the 7th to make it 6-6 and force extra innings and took the lead in the top of the 10th but the bullpen couldn’t close things out again.  Cody Evans couldn’t hold the lead in the bottom of the 10th and then gave up a walkoff homer to the first batter he faced in the 11th.

The Silver Hawks finally moved off the bottom of their division standings by defeating the Wizards, the team that was directly above them.

Josh Collmenter gave up 2 runs in 5 2/3 innings to even his record at 3-3 for the season.  Collmenter allowed 7 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4.  Josh Blake pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Bill Spottiswood threw 2 shutout innings for his 3rd save.
Derrick Walker had 3 hits while Sean Coughlin hit his 3rd homer of the season.
