Yusmeiro Petit
continued to strike out batters but his flyball tendencies hurt him at Portland. Petit struck out 7 but allowed 5 runs in 5 1/3 innings including 2 homers. The offense got 2 homers of their own and scored 4 times in the top of the 6th inning to give him a 4-3 lead, but Petit couldn’t get out of the bottom of the inning. He gave up 3 singles while retiring just one batter. Jailen Peguero came in and allowed the tying run to score on a groundout. He then threw a wild pitch to let the Beavers score the go-ahead run. Petit has struck out 24 batters in his last 3 games and in his 5 starts since rejoining the Sidewinders, he hasn’t walked a single batter while striking out 29.

Tony Barnette
pitched 7 strong innings and Bryan Byrne drove in 3 runs in the BayBears turned the Biscuits into crumbs. Barnette gave up just a run on 5 hits while striking out 5. The 7 innings was his longest outing of the season.
Byrne was 3-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Guillermo Reyes also had 3 hits while Chris Rahl scored 3 times.

Wes Roemer gave up 3 homers in 6 innings to take his 3rd loss of the season. He allowed 5 runs on 10 hits with 2 walks and a strikeout. The offense didn’t help him much, getting just 3 hits and a run.

Dan Fournier gave up 2 runs in the 7th inning of a 2-2 game but the Silver Hawks scored twice in the bottom of the inning to draw level again. Fournier gave up another run in the 9th and there was no comeback that time. Starter Josh Collmenter allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 5 innings. He struck out 2 and walked 3.
