Prospects Stuff

Aaron Thompson got the start Wednesday afternoon vs the Nationals. He was outstanding, throwing 4 scoreless innings. He only gave up 1 hit, while walking none and striking out 2. This should be a huge boost as he enters his first season in high-A Jupiter.

RockChalkTalk.com has an excellent interview up with 2006 Marlins draftee Don Czyz. Last season at Kansas, Czyz he led the NCAA with 19 saves and was an All American. The 6′2 righthander struggled a bit in his professional debut with the Jamestown Jammers. Known for having good control, Don gave up 4.5 walks per 9 innings, something he hadn’t done since 2003, as a sophomore. With his shaky command, he still allowed opposing hitters to hit just .225 off him. Czyz throws a 91-93 mph to go along with an improving slider and changeup. While is his overall size and arm action aren’t ideal, Don is a bulldog on the mound and loves to compete. Being that he is a college guy, he could hit a few stops this year with Carolina being as far as he goes this season.
