Tampa Bay’s Tomorrow

A fresh start for an old subject

Ahh. Fresh blog space on MVN.

As the new guy, it’s accepted practice that I introduce myself. My name is Pete Spitler. I’ve spent nearly three years with The Southern Illinoisan newspaper in Carbondale, Ill. I do a lot of prep sports work for them and spent two years in radio broadcasting prior to my position.

I’m also a paranormal investigator in my spare time, something that’s become more and more invigorating the more I do it. In addition, I was an inline hockey goalie with Southern Illinois University Carbondale, finishing with a career record of 64-38-9.

But enough about me. I’m here because I enjoy challenges and doing things out of the ordinary, hence the reason why I’m the new Tampa Bay minor league beat blogger for MVN.

First and foremost, I’m not a Rays fan. I find that a good thing in this business. Staying objective to the source material is key to winning respect and credibility as a writer. I call a lemon a lemon and a diamond a diamond as far as MLB prospects go. I pull no punches and give credit where credit’s due.

For those of you who wish to watch this space, I welcome you. I hope over time I can earn your respect as both a beat writer and an oracle to the world of minor-league Rays baseball.

My blog will appear Wednesdays and Sundays. More often if something monumental occurs. Also, please support independent thought and click on MVN’s sponsors. They’re a big part of what keeps us going strong.

Coming Sunday, I will begin diving into TB’s minor-league affliliates. Who has the best stadium? The best coaches? The most affordable flat beer and stale pretzels? I hope to answer all these questions and more.

 Cheers!

Tampa Bay’s Tomorrow appears Wednesdays and Sundays on MVN.

Welcome to the minor league side of things Pete. Its always good to have more people writing in the minor league part of the site. Hope to read some good stuff about the Rays (or whatever it is they are going to be called these days) system from you in the near future.

Welcome aboard! I just recently joined myself, and although I’m not exactly a Brewers fan, I am a minor league junkie in general, so I hope to stay objective…

I look forward to your blogs, as I enjoy reading about everyone’s stars of tomorrow.
