Minor League Recap 5/17
Scranton’s game vs. Pawtucket was rained out. Double header scheduled for tomorrow.
Trenton beats New Hampshire, 4-3.
- George Kontos allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and 3 walks, while picking up 7 strikeouts.
- Zach Kroenke pitched two shutout innings of relief, allowing a hit and two walks in that same span.
- Austin Jackson was 2 for 5 with a double. Austin also had an outfield assist at 2nd base.
- Ramiro Pena, Edwar Gonzalez, Cody Ehlers, Jose Tabata, Reegie Corona, and PJ Pillittere all got a hit in their respective at-bats. Cody’s happened to be the only extra base hit out of the aforementioned bunch, a double in the second.
- Kevin Russo and Colin Curtis were 2 for 4 with a double each.
Tampa loses to Fort Myers, 3-2.
- Christian Garcia is back, and he wasn’t that bad at all. In 4 2/3 innings of work, Chris allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and a walk. He also hit a batter and threw a wild pitch, but he was able to garner 6 strikeouts on the night, which shows that his stuff is not that far off. Both runs came in the 5th inning, when CG’s control started to waver a little bit. In time, once CG gets more innings under his belt, he’ll be fine.
- Jose Valdez pitched an inning of scoreless relief.
- Damon Sublett, Kyle Anson, and Seth Fortenberry were 1 for 4.
- James Cooper was 2 for 3 with a double.
- Andres Perez, Mitch Hilligross, Luis Nunez, Jose Gil, and Kevin Smith were hitless in their respective at bats.
Charleston loses to Asheville, 5-2.
- Lance Pendleton got the start and was solid. In shutout 5 innings, Lance allowed 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 8.
- Chris Vacek allowed a walk in his scoreless inning of relief, striking out 2 in that span.
- Jonathan Ortiz got a blown save as he allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks.
- Austin Krum, Jesus Montero, and Chase Odenreider were hitless in their respective at-bats.
- Justin Snyder, Braedyn Pruitt, and Dave Williams got 2 hits in their respective at-bats. Justin and Dave had a double each.
- Carmen Angelini, Brian Baisley, and Taylor Holiday were 1 for 4.

Mike Ashmore’s blog has the beginning of an interesting Q&A with Nardi Contreras. Talks a little about McCutchen, Whelan and possible movement of pitchers throughout the organization.

Chrissy, oh the nostalgia that you bring back to these Minor League reports.
Glad to have you back, my friend. . . .
Never stopped rooting for you, even in your lowest times when everybody was ripping you for your questionable work ethic.
