After Ronny Paulino blasted his first homerun as a Met, a 3-run shot to left field, all signs pointed to a 4th straight Mets win. The homerun capped a 5-run inning, and the Amazins led 6-2 in the 8th. But once again the pen couldn’t hold it late, as Pedro Beato and Jason Isringhausen combined to give up 4 runs and tie the game at 6. Nyjer Morgan’s RBI double off Dale Thayer won it in the 9th, and the Brewers gave the Mets their first walk-off loss of the season, 7-6.

I am going to have nightmares of this slob crushing homeruns for the next 8 hours. Yay...

Mike Pelfrey pitched very well, tossing 6 innings and allowing just 4  hits. He gave up a line drive 2-run shot to Prince Fielder on a 3-0 pitch in the 5th that gave the Brewers a 2-1 lead, but it was the only bad mark on his report card for the night.

The Mets embark on their longest road trip of the season, and start it off by facing the best home team in baseball. The Milwaukee Brewers are 21-7 in Miller Park, and are sizzling of late overall, going 18-5 in their last 23 games.

The Mets just finished a 5-5 home stand and now head away from Citi Field, but they have actually played better on the road this year than they have at home. The Mets went 2-5 against Milwaukee last season, including 1-2 at Miller Park.

Hopefully we don't see too much of Bernie Brewer going down the slide this week.

Chris Capuano spent 7 up and down years with the Brewers before coming to the Mets.

    Pitching Matchups:

    6/7/11- Chris Capuano (3-6, 5.19 ERA) vs. Shaun Marcum (6-2, 2.78 ERA)
