Send Chipper and McCann to the All-Star Game!
Let’s send Chipper and McCann to Yankee Stadium in July to represent our Braves! As of the results released on Tuesday, Chipper is currently leading Cubs’ third baseman, Aramis Ramirez, by about 800,000 votes, and McCann is only trailing the Cubs’ catcher, Geovany Soto, by 580,000 votes.
The case for Chipper is an easy one. The man was batting over .400 until recently and is still mighty impressive at his current .394. His full line is a thing of beauty: .394/.485/.630. Aramis Ramirez pales in comparison with his current .303/.405/.527.
Likewise, the case for McCann is pretty strong (in my completely unbiased opinion, of course). He’s hitting .301/.372/.549 to Soto’s .280/.367/.508.
Sure, the Cubs are leading their division by 4.5 games and are playing well over .500 ball with their current 49-29 record. Does that have anything to do with the All-Star game? Should it have anything to do with the All-Star game? Nope! This isn’t the World Series, it’s the All-Star game. It’s about individual achievement and success. So who should go? Chipper and McCann, of course!
Voting ends July 2nd, so vote now and vote often!

Geovanny Soto had a hot start and he plays for the Cubs. He had an advantage there. Braves fans will have to Rally to get the rightful all star up there. I have already voted 50 times.

Actually, the only thing that matters in All-Star Game voting is preference. It’s not like you have to pass a quiz demonstrating your knowledge of the baseball season thus far in order to be allowed to vote. They give individual’s multiple votes to pump up the totals and make themselves look more popular! Big market teams with passionate fanbases (let’s face it, we’re neither at the moment) are going to get their guys in there, deserving or not, and to that I say: who cares? I’d rather have my guys batting later, when the game was on the line and against the weaker opposition pitching under circumstances their not used to!

Hey, EJ, we’re the passionate fanbase! So at least we all oughta be able to stuff the ballot boxes 25 times apiece for Brian and Chipper.

It’s a popularity contest like any other situation that involves voting. That being said, I have faith that Braves Nation will rally and get some more votes in for Heap!

There’s absolutely no chance Jones or Soto lose their leads. McCann will be added anyway.

Will Chipper be well by the All-Star Game? He has spent a lot of time nursing various ailments this year

I think Russel Martin should make it over both these clowns. Russel Martin First, Brian McCann Second, if you ask me.

Soto and McCann both deserve to be there every bit as much as Russell Martin.
The latest voting numbers show Soto increasing his lead to nearly 700,000 votes. But, again, McCann will be going as a reserve anyway. On the other hand, Martin isn’t even in the top five, trailing such stars as Jason Kendall.
By the way, Chipper Jones leads by a million votes. I think he’s in the clear.
