7/19 Game Thread: More Nationals

Well, the Nats are starting a lefty, and you know what that means: no offense for us! Jurrjens doesn’t seem to have much tonight, giving up 3 runs in the 3rd inning. Greg Norton’s in left field, and Martin Prado’s at second base, (and Francoeur is still in right field) so you know Bobby decided we’re not going to be trying very hard tonight.

Is a 3-0 deficit to a left-handed pitcher insuperable? Or will the Braves be able, somehow, be able to extend their winning streak to four games? Let’s find out!

That ball Norton hit was sooooo unbearably close to being extra bases. Great running catch by Willie Harris.

Just a beautiful bunt single there by Blanco, who’s now dinked his way to a 3-3 day.

I read on mlbtraderumors that the Brewers might get Huston Street for Darren Ford. Uhhhh I know there are alot of rumors posted that wont happen but at least SOME of them make a little bit of sense for both teams involved. This trade would make ZERO sense for the A’s. Heck Lilibridge, Brandon Jones would be a MUCH better package than Ford. No way the A’s settle for that package for a guy that is a really good YOUNG closer. He could setup here if Gonzo stays healthy. Next year we would look awesome with Street. Moylan, Soriano, Street, and Gonzalez. Thats a 5 inning game as long as they stay healthy. Along with Acosta and Boyer also man the bullpen would look awesome.

We have already won one game from the pesky Nats. Losing today won’t be a total surprise. They play us surprisingly close and hard.

Especially when we let players like Ryan Langerhans get two doubles off us.

Nats, Marlins and Phillies, 9 games. Who is going to predict our won/loss record over this NL East 9 :-)

Can someone explain why a .319 hitter against lefties is being platooned. Yeah I’m talkin about KJ.

Johnny, you’re asking the right question, but there’s no good answer other than stupidity.

Also, the following is a partial list of Nationals we didn’t have to face in this series because they’re injured:
    Nick Johnson
    Ryan Zimmerman
    Wily Mo Pena
    Lastings Milledge
    Elijah Dukes
    Chad Cordero
    Shawn Hill
That would be 3 of their 4 best outfielders, one of their best pitchers, their closer, their best hitter, and their best player.
    Also, they’re beating us 5-1.

Am I bitter? How’d you guess?

Rauch is better than Cordero anyway.

Well, the Nats are a playoff caliber team as far as the Braves are concerned. The road to the playoffs lead through Washington
