Parra paces Crew to season sweep of Giants, 7-4

Brewers’ skipper Ned Yost opted to give second-year pitcher Manny Parra the #3 slot in the rotation after the All-Star break…and Parra continues to prove Yost’s decision to be a good one.

Parra fanned nine and earned his 9th win of the year Sunday, going 7 2/3rds innings, and only allowing 2 earned runs to lower his ERA for the year to 3.68. The Crew also handed Giants’ phenom Tim Lincecum his 3rd loss of the year, tagging him for 5 ER’s over 6 IP…Corey Hart and Ryan Braun paced the offense with a home run apiece, their 16th and 24th on the year, respectively–Braun drove in 5 of the 7 runs on the day.

In other news, the Crew traded for Giants’ infielder and switch-hitter Ray Durham, giving up AAA pitcher Steve Hammond and Single A outfielder Darren Ford; the addition will likely send Joe Dillon down to AAA Nashville until the September call-ups. Durham is expected to pinch-hit, but will likely also see time at second base should Rickie Weeks continue to struggle.
