Cardinals Catch Break In San Diego

Hey gang, just a few random thoughts about the series with San Diego…

Jake Peavy was scratched from his scheduled start tonight vs. the Cardinals.  He says he is feeling pain in his right elbow with every pitch.  He will have an MRI this week to determine what the problem is exactly and what course of action to take.

The Padres are hitting .215 at home this year and that is the worst home batting average in the majors.

Looks like we are arriving in San Diego at just the right time…

Tonight’s pitching matchup is Todd Wellemeyer vs. Wilfredo Ledezma.  I like Wellemeyer the way he has been pitching.  If we are going to win this series, this game is crucial because it only gets harder from there.  Tuesday the Padres send Greg Maddux to the mound to face Joel Pineiro.  This is the best matchup of the series.  Maddux is a legend, but Pineiro has pitched better than him this season.  Still, Maddux is a genius at location and the Cardinals will have to be patient at the plate.  The series finishes up on Wednesday with Braden Looper going against Chris Young.  That is a pretty even matchup and could be anyone’s game.  But all we need to do is continue to win each series we can, and the wins will take care of themselves.
