Rockin’ the Ravine

Hey Thursday, Shut Up

For some reason I don’t even care that Pay-Rod is back with the Yankees. And I don’t even care that Barry Bonds was indicted. Yawn. So what? Somebody wake me up when they take him to jail.

275 Million Dollars for ten years. That is the craziest thing I have ever heard in my life.

I don’t even think the Yankees really even want him playing for them. The Yanks and ARod. They’re just like that nauseating High School Lovers thing.

You know, the ugly couple that fought all the time, but could never end the relationship because they had what they thought was pretty good sex. Then one day they got older and realized that the sex was actually never really that good.

Well, in this case, money is the sex, and PayRod is really good at accepting it and using it to buy cheesy, expensive suits, while the Yankees are fantastic at handing it out.

The thing is that this couple is never going to grow up. ARod is never going to realize that maybe winning and playing the game with respect is more important than money, and the Yankees are never going to realize that maybe sometimes business should be done with a tiny bit loyalty and compassion.

I was rooting for ARod, I actually was. And you know what else, I was kinda internally slightly rooting for the Yankees. I mean I still hated them, but I was actually telling people that I thought I might hate the Red Sox more.

Thank goodness for the Yankees though. Right when you think they give you something to root for with all these passion filled youngsters, they go out and pull some crazy stunt just to remind you that they’re still the New York Yankees.

And it wasn’t just one isolated crazy stunt either. Did you see the money that they threw at Mo Rivera and Posada? Three years and 45 Mil for Rivera? And he thinks that isn’t enough? Four years and 52 Million for Posada? Are you kidding me?

It’s over gang. I officially hate the Yankees just as much as I used to. Man, it feels good to be young again.

And I hate ARod too, his candy ass. I’ve been searching for years for a real reason to hate him, and I actually felt myself kinda rooting for him like an underdog. Well, now it’s gone.

Check out his website…ARod.com.

O. And here’s JorgePosada.com.

Shut up.

Talk to me about Bonds when they blackball him from baseball, and let Rose into the Hall instead.

O, Sports.

In Dodger News, not much, we’re in the running for Miguel Cabrera. Who aren’t we in the running for?

Check it out, apparently the Marlins are asking for the House. I’ve heard crazy things to the extent of: They want Kemp, Loney, Bills, and Kershaw. And they want Broxton too.

Well of course they do.

Who doesn’t?

They got to get serious though, because we want Miguel Cabrera, and we sorta need him too. The thing is that we can never give up that much, especially for just one guy, and especially because all our dudes are like younger than 25. Kershaw’s 20. That’s younger than me.

The only thing I wanna do right now is win. That’s it.

We made it pretty clear that we’d like that too when the franchise bought Joe Torre. That’s just not going to be enough though.

He’ll win more games that Grady Little, but he won’t win a title with this roster. We have to do some things, and quite a few things too.

We’re going to have to spend some money, we know that. But we’re a big club and that’s what baseball is these days.

Hey, I’m not saying I enjoy it, or support it for that matter either. I think it is absolutely insane and ridiculous that these guys get paid as much as they do. It’s absurd.

But…

It’s a game, and we’re players. The money isn’t coming out of my pocket, so what the hell? Or is it….

If we bring in a Cabrera, or a Hunter, or a Jones, or a Johan, prices will go up. Tickets will cost more, hot dogs will cost more, and parking, beers, thsirts, and caps and will all cost more. Are we willing to do that?

We have to be supportive as a nation. We can’t pray for them to do more and then whine when we get overpriced.

We know that going to Dodger games is going to be expensive. So buy the package, sack up, or just wait and get tickets handed to you from your loving grandparents like I do.

I don’t know, I guess there’s not much we can do but trust them.

We’ve been betrayed by them as fans for so long now that it hurts, so sometimes it’s hard to find trust once again.

But I guess these are our guys. Frank and Jamie McCourt, Ned Colleti, Joe Torre.

So, we’ll wait for tomorrow, check ESPN, and see what happens. Just like everyday.

Happy Thanksgiving, I’m going home to be with my fam. Enjoy the Holidays and expect a quick dead period. And then hopefully things will pick up. Catch you on the flipside.

Is Luis Gonzalez serious?

I’d like to see the Yanks trade Hideki Matsui to the Dodgers for a young badass reliever. You’ve got a few of those, I hear.

Hey … I’m a Sox fan … I’ve got a trade proposal that I was gonna run by and see what Dodger fan thought of … I was just shooting stuff around in my head so sorry if I’m wasting your time but 3 way deals are just too much fun to keep to yourself ya know? anyways yeah here goes…

    Dodgers get: Manny Ramirez

Marlins get: Jon Lester and 2 top Dodger prospects (I’ll leave it to you to take your pick … I don’t know your farm well enough to do anymore than throw a couple of the poular names around)

    Sox get: Miguel Cabrera

I thought it was fairly balanced and I liked the idea … it is pretty far fetched I’ll admit … I have a feeling the Dodgers FO would shoot it down tho partly because if they are going to get into a big trade they want to get a big time player for years to come rather than a big time player who will probably be gone a 2-3 years … of course the price would be a lot lower … thus the incentive for you guys … you get to keep most of your young stars and get a big hitter whereas if you trade for Cabrera on your own they are going to demand just about everybody worth demanding apparently

I dunno … I know it’s far from likely … I was bored and now that Lowell is signed I’m trying to think of something to kepp the rest of the winter interesting … just wanted to hear what you guys thought

    Settle down. Settle down.

I got to be honest. It’s tough to make a trade proposal like that when you leave out the two Dodger prospects that would be involved in that trade.

Would I do it for Matt Kemp and James Loney? No. For Kemp and Billingsley? No. Loney and Kershaw? No.

I would go ahead and trade those guys straight up for Cabrera, but I’m not sure I really want a decling Manny with his bad attitude and horrible defense in big Dodger Stadium.

I would probably make that trade for like LaRoche and Ether. Or Abreu or Greg Miller or something.

It’s an interesing proposal, I just don’t think it would be worth it for us when we could just go out and sign one of these big name outfield free agents for probably less than we would end up paying Manny.

It would all depend on the pieces man, but I like where your heads at, I probably concoct some scenario like that too if I was a Sox fan. Well…Well…We’ll see…
