Andruw Jones is an LA Dodger
ANDRUW OUT TO PROVE HIMSELF?
Andurw Jones is an LA Dodger.
Two years. 36 Million Dollars for the 10 time Gold Glover and Five Time All Star.
That includes the $12 Million signing bonus.
Initial reaction is psyched. It was my first Dodger smile since Joe Torre.
I’m excited, and I’m trying to convince myself that he played injured last year, because, you know, he played injured last year. Right?
Last year was tough: A .222 BA, only a .311 OBP. But hey, he had 26 Jacks and 94 RBIs, both good enough for tops on the Dodgers. He played in 154 games, and he’s nasty with the glove.
A little nervous.
But, it’s like an excited nervous.
I don’t know I can’t decide, I’m still texting.
Ok, I like it. The first question, obviously, what’s gonna happen to Matt Kemp? Naturally, that’s the first question.
Are we going to trade Matt Kemp?
The thing is, I’m not sure if we could get much for Andre Ethier, he’s not quite as valuable. I love Andre Ethier. All my friends think Matt Kemp is out, they’re all yelling at me on the phone.
I’m trying to be peaceful and think about it, and I’m getting drunk-dialed by my friends demanding an answer. There isn’t one right now.
We’re not trading Juan Pierre.
The only problem is that we make decisions and don’t really think about them sometimes. Also though, Andruw Jones is a cleanup hitter. He’s got one of the best looking bodies I’ve ever seen in baseball, and people do not want to pitch to him. We needed that. Really bad…
I mean, we don’t really have a choice in the matter. I’m sorry, I don’t have any idea what the hell we’re going to do with him, but I do know this…We needed him. Bad.
We might have to kiss one of our favorite players goodbye, in Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier. For real, though, who doesn’t like Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier? It isn’t possible.
But you know what? They’re still kids, they have to pay their dues I guess.
Tony Gwynn only got 190 At Bats his rookie season, then 304 in his second, before he got 606 in “84. That’s Tony Gwynn. I looked it up.
It’s what happened. Andruw Jones is here to revive his career. He’s here to play his ass off and make even more money when he’s outta here. Joe Torre is here for three before he rides off into the sunset.
Dre and Matt Kemp will be here long after that hopefully. So here’s the deal, we can trade them away for some Schmucko, middle of the rotation douche, or we can keep them both and find them some time here and there.
If they get pissed off enough, we’ll trade them. But they won’t, they’re playing under Joe Torre.
And what did every single person you talked to say? Even if they hated him? (I wrote this in ALL CAPS initially)
JOE TORRE MANAGES EGOS.
Joe Torre manages egos. It’s just what he does. It just what he did to win World Championships. And hopefully, that’s what will happen here.
Screw It.
Let’s Do It Andruw.
Think about his smile in his shade.
25 is Baller.

Great pick up. No reason to be nervous, Jones played with an injured elbow last season but according to many including SI is already healed completely and projected to return to form next year. That injury allowed us to get him for only 2 years so besides the high yearly price this is all positive for the Dodgers. Only problem is Pierre. Coletti must realize that Pierre is a sunk cost and dump Pierre, or else we won’t feel the full impact of adding Jones. Can you imagine an outfield of Ethier, Jones, and Kemp? Or how bout Delwyn Young, Jones, and Kemp? We would kill the NL West. With better options, Pierre should not be starting. Period. Especially at LF.

Play Pierre in Left and bat him lead off.
Drop Furcall in the batting order.Trade Ethier for a middle reliver or sit him as PH or back up to Kemp. Play Kemp full time.

Play Pierre at LF and bat him lead off? I don’t think so. I still believe an outfield of Ethier, Kemp and Jones will be a very potent outfield. Juan Pierre should be the best paid bench player. Its just how it is unless they buy his contract off and he can go play elsewhere. I dont care what they do just don’t trade Ethier or Kemp. These are talented young players and we need them. What’s going to happen in two years when Jones’ contract expires and he seeks a 5-7 year deal? We’re left without Jones and without Kemp or Ethier? No way!!! keep these kids… they are the future!
