Good move. First, we get rid of Gibbons and keep Moore, which is what is best for the team–in 2008 AND the future.
Not only that, I think you can infer a little bit about the relationship between Trembley, MacPhail, and Angelos. Trembley and MacPhail knew who they wanted on the team, and were able to get Angelos’ approval. And there is no team that would eat 11 million without the approval of the owner. I really feel that there is a good and trustful relationship between these three leaders. And the organization finally did something that shows they’ve actually acknowledged one of the mistakes that was made in the past 10 years.
Tomorrow at 3:05 cannot get here fast enough! I’m ready for the magic of opening day.

Bye. Don’t let the clubhouse door hit you in the butt on the way out.

This is the kind of move that indicates to FAs that B-more is a new place. Not this off-season or the next, but in coming years see FAs who wouldn’t sign with the O’s 2 years ago coming to the Yard. This is exciting.

Wow! I didn’t really think it would actually happen. This is some of the best news of the entire winter.

Great News, I’d even be willing to send in a few dollars to help cover the 11 million and change…put me down for $20.00!!!

Yeah, I’m as happy and gay as a jitterbug dancing in the porch light but did anyone else find the following quote disconcerning from MacPhail, saying that HE ASKED PETER ANGELOS FOR BASEBALL ADVICE?!:
“I hadn’t reached any conclusions myself. I was wrestling with this one,” said MacPhail, relaying an anecdote. “I was really, more than anything, to be honest with you, looking for advice.”
Is that not back ass wards?
