Randy Wolf Signing Howls Dividends For Friars
Randy Wolf was a question mark. And lets be honest, he still is. Two games do not a season make. But you have to love the early season returns and wonder if the Wolf Pack will soon be making a migration to the warmer climate of San Diego.
Wolf has started two games. He has pitched 12 innings, given up 9 hits, 3 runs and sports an ERA of 2.25. 9 strikouts against 3 walks. Not too shabby for a number four starter. And certainly pretty nice numbers for a guy that was considered a risk signing as he came off off-season surgery. The fact that he was with the Dodgers last year (meaning that they should have had the inside track to resigning him) just makes it that much sweeter.
As I write this, the Padres are in extra innings in San Francisco. The Padres scored a run in the top of the ninth to take Wolf off the hook when he was looking to lose a game where, as the cliche goes, he pitched well enough to win. That means that in the stat that is either (depending on your point of view) the most or least important, he is 0-0.
But at this time, I have to say that it looks like K.T. knew what he was doing making sure the Wolf could survive in Southern California…
