Finally, Padres Get Mad Dog a Win

A career long streak of frustration ended tonight as the Padres finally managed to hang on to a lead for Greg “Mad Dog” Maddux.

Home runs by Khalil Greene and Nick Hundley helped the Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-5, making a winner out of their future Hall of Fame starter after he had gone winless in fourteen starts since notching win 351 of his stellar career. Arizona’s Micah Owings gave up all eight runs and was tagged with the loss. The Padres now have a modest four game winning streak.

Win number 352 moves Maddux to within two of Roger Clemens, the next man on the all time wins list with 354.
