Charlie Manuel Shakes Up The Rotation
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports is reporting that Charlie has decided to move Brett Myers to the bullpen and replace him in the rotation with Jon Lieber.

My Thoughts: Charlie is really grasping at straws now, this is his last stand. This doesn’t work out, he knows that he’s gone. I think he’s nuts but if Gillick won’t help him flesh out the bullpen, and if his players won’t play for him, it’s time to do something drastic.
NOTE: I’m sorry to step on Jane’s very good article but this had to be reported

I’m not a Phillies fan, but I can’t imagine how moving Myers out of the rotation makes your team better.

It doesn’t. End of story.

I’m not wild about taking Myers from the rotation, but it was clear that Lieber had an attitude about being there and wasn’t going to do any good in that role. At least Myers has stated he wants to do what’s best for the team.
It also might be Charlie’s way of sticking it to Gillick for not getting him any bullpen help.
