Game #36 vs. Atlanta

PNC Park | 7:05 | Gorzelanny vs. Chuck James | Box

Welcome back, Gorzo. Tom Gorzelanny had a solid effort and picked up the win as the Pirates have won five straight.

He gave up a two run homer to Mark Teixeira in the first inning and that was it. He walked just two.

Ronny Paulino was mired in a 1-16 slump heading into this game, but he delivered a sac fly and a two out double in the sixth. Jason Bay homered to tie the game after Jason Michaels was called safe on a pick off attempt when he was actually out. Michaels had three hits.

Matt Capps got the save and Chuck James was the loser.

Pre-Game Thoughts
Tom Gorzelanny is back after missing a start with back troubles. He lost the second game of 2008 to Atlanta. He received a ND in his only other career appearance vs. Atlanta.

Chipper Jones is 4-5 off of Gorzo. The rest of the Braves have combined to go only 4-28.

In a pair of career starts against the Pirates, Chuck James has not allowed a run in 13 innings and has yielded only three hits. The team is just 5-27 off him collectively.

His first start against the Pirates was almost a year ago to the date. James outing was balanced the other way by a mediocre effort from Tony Armas.

James is battling some shoulder issues and has been shuttled to AAA and back already this year.

I had no recollection of Jason Michaels punching a police officer.
