FORK ! I just said 35 curse words after Benoit comes out and walks the first 2 guys after his team gets the lead.

Okay - I don’t know whom they can bring up to take his place, but to me Benoit is dead. He needs to go - I’m sick of his crap - he has done nothing to help this team in 2008. If they lose because of his walks, I can’t imagine the demoralization that will bring this team.

Let’s see Madrigal, for Pete’s sake!

What an escape for Benoit…fly out to Boggs, then a double play from Jeter…wow…

Warner Madrigal in his first ML game against the top of the Yankees order at Yankee Stadium in a one-run game…no pressure…

Off Topic but I’m glad TAG is back he cut off Lewin’s rant about the NY media not knowing who the Rangers are . Some Guy on the web put it well Lewin is only a homer for the san diego charges because that’s what it says on his paycheck. I think the same things holds true for the Rangers. To me TAG is the only Ranger fan in that booth.
Sorry Rant over back to the Ranges game

    Yep he sucks.

Well, you don’t bring a rookie in for his first major league appearance with a narrow lead in Yankees stadium. That falls on Benoit, who should have come out throwing strikes, taking 2 innings there for the team.

The bullpen is killing this team.

I really feel for the hitters who have to be exasperated at how they just can’t seem to do enough in these kinds of games.

    18-7. Ugh.

I’ve got nothing. What a pathetic meltdown. The old “one step forward, two steps back” principle at work yet again.

Thanks to all of you who came out of the woodwork to post in today’s gameday thread. Jason P. was at tonight’s game but ultimately left early…and I can’t say I blame him.

As long as Ron Washington is the manager the Rangers will have games like tonight. Believe me when the game is on the line we will lose more than we win. He might be a good coach but not manager. I’ve never seen a year with such bad umpiring, and we seem to be the one that get the most of the bad calls. What I would like to know is why the strike zone seems to vary from umpire to umpire, and sometimes between innings? Sometimes I feel sorry for our players getting called out on bad pitches( like Monday night) and he (Wash) does nothing!!!

I didn’t get to catch the whole game tonight, but I did hear when Ron Washington decided to let Warner Madrigal make his major league debut in a tight situation, on the road, in Yankee Stadium.

Maybe he wanted to give the kid a chance to play in the stadium atleast once in his career, maybe he has no faith in Wright or Rupe or Francisco, whatever the reason, it was the wrong decision.

Madrigal may be a very good pitcher one day, but this was the 7th inning of a 1 run ballgame against a completely insane offense that has just been waiting for the chance to burst open. A guy making his major league debut in the only chance he’ll ever have to play in Yankee Stadium is exactly what the Yankees needed to get into their groove against a Rangers’ bullpen which had been fantastic up until that point.

Yeah. I don’t blame Wash for this one. He was 1 arm short and he had to go to the bullpen 2 innings too soon. I blame Benoit, a veteran, who couldn’t throw stikes and had to be yanked - and Madrigal was the only other choice.

Too bad, too b/c that was our game to win.

If Madrigal was the only choice why did Wright pitch? Every day Eddie said he was ready also.Frankie only threw 12 pitches last night and 18 Monday, don’t tell me he could not have pitched. If a reliever can’t pitch three nights in a row you have a problem????? I’ll agree that was our game to win. This is not the first one we have lost this way. Our record should be much better.

  19. JDolla$ says:

Uh - I assume since CJ pitched 3 nights in a row that Franky was the closer, Wright was the 8th, and Benoit the 6th - 7th. I don’t think RW wanted to bring in Madrigal, but he probably thought it would be better to bring him in the 7th than the 8th, since Benoit couldn’t get the job done for 2 innings. I have no problem with that logic.

  20. Joey Matschulat says:

    July 3rd, 2008 at 9:02 am

So, a question: what would the Rangers have done if this game had gone to extra innings?

  21. JDolla$ says:

    July 3rd, 2008 at 10:55 am

Yeah - that’s a good question, Joey. Seems like they were gambling that they wouldn’t. Maybe they need to put Guardado on the DL and bring up Littleton or something - or Loe. This is why I don’t think it’s quite fair to pin all the blame for what happened last night on RW. Granted, he does make his fair share of questionable moves, but I don’t know what else he was supposed to do there.

Some guys are screaming for his head over this, saying that he should have brought in Wright instead of Madrigal. But would that have really made any difference. Seems like Wright got shelled just as badly…

Anyway, we still got 2 out of 3 in NY, and that’s the first time I can remember that happening in eons.

And for the 100th time, BOY if we just had some pitching, this team would be really really hard to beat.
