Notes: Per Anthony Andro of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
Brandon McCarthy didn’t make his scheduled start for Oklahoma on Wednesday, but instead came to Arlington Thursday and threw for Nolan Ryan and Andy Hawkins. It was worth the trip. McCarthy said he came away from the throwing session feeling better than he has in two years. Ryan worked with him about using more of his lower body. McCarthy has also started bringing the ball over his head.
While McCarthy was upbeat, he wasn’t alone. Ryan liked what he saw too and hasn’t ruled out McCarthy for this season. He’s heading back to Oklahoma to make another start.
