Breaking News:Percival Injured In 9th; Might be DL’d
6:05 Update: The Heater is saying Percival will get an MRI on his left hamstring(same hamstring that bothered him before) and could land on the 15 Day DL. If that happens we hope Grant Balfour and his 0.38 ERA get the call from Durham.
Another option, if the injury is not serious, is sending down Ben Zobrist, calling up Balfour and have Percy wait it out a few days. If he improves then Willy Aybar can take the extra pitchers spot(hopefully Glover) or if Percy doesn’t improve he can be put on the DL retroactive to today and Aybar can take that spot. It should be an interesting day or two roster wise.~Tommy
Update: Percival landed wrong and falling after throwing a pitch. The injury appears to be a leg injury as Percy limped off the field after throwing a warm up pitch and shaking his head. It could possibly be a tweak of the hamstring that was bothering him last week. Hat tip to Jason Collette for the report.
Dan Wheeler replaced Percival to get the final two outs and earn the save in the Rays 5-3 victory. More on the game and Percival in tomorrow’s recap
Troy Percival was just taken out in the 9th inning of the Rays game against the Rangers.
We’re not sure what the injury is or the extent of it, but we’ll let you know as soon as we have updates.

We knew something had to happen with Troy, and the Rays will need him back to maintain this high level of play. I hope they don’t rush him back early and that, in the meantime, Wheeler and/or maybe Zobrist or someone else will rise to the occasion, the way the rest of the Rays have done this year. Then, when Troy returns, the relief corps will be even stronger. Wouldn’t surprise anyone at all.

Im just glad its nothing to do with his arm. I think Wheeler is more than capable to hold down the fort while Troy rests his leg.
