He was good with the Giants, real good. To run that Bonds-fractured clubhouse was not easy. The Cubs job is a graveyard and he did not handle the media feeding-frenzy there very well. If you want you nuts in a sling every day no matter what you do short of sweeping the world series, manage in NY, Boston or Chicago.
That said, unless he has learned from his mistakes of throwing the arms off Prior and Wood, I am leery.

Not a good idea in my opinion. Dusty Baker is too much of a nice guy (like Jerry Narron). I would rather see someone firey and younger, someone who will demand hustle and excellence in the fundamentals.

As a Cubs fan, I find this to be great news. I look forward to seeing a Reds lineup featuring Alex Gonzalez leading off, Jorge Cantu batting second, and Joey Votto middling in AAA for the next three years. Adam Dunn will also have to stop his base-clogging ways if he ever wants playing time, lest Baker force a trade for Neifi “The Stimulator” Perez.

If Dusty Baker is hired, I am seriously considering rooting for another team until he is gone.
Oh, and I will also be purchasing ‘PleasefireDustyBaker.com’ if it happens. The man has no clue what makes a winning baseball team, and I have a feeling Homer Bailey and Johnny Cueto will have their arms fall off before 2010.
Seriously, bring back Jerry Narron, Dave Miley or Bob Buffoon before we bring in Dusty Baker.

From a nation of Cubs fans,
We hope this story is true!
Good luck in 2010.

Dusty Baker is the wrong manager at the wrong time for this team. Baker is best when managing veterans with big egos. The Reds need to rebuild with kids.

Baker is best when he has a very talented team that even he can’t screw up…..
That is not the Reds in 2008.
