Radio: 700 WLW

Records: Reds 21-23 (tied-4th N.L. Central); Dodgers 22-21 (2nd place N.L. West)

Pitching Matchups:

  • Monday-Reds RHP Bronson Arroyo (2-4, 6.08) vs. Dodgers RHP Brad Penny (5-4, 5.09)
  • Tuesday-Reds RHP Matt Belisle (1-3, 7.45) vs. Dodgers RHP Chad Billingsley (3-5, 4.34)
  • Wednesday-Reds RHP Johnny Cueto (2-4, 5.75) vs. Dodgers RHP Hiroki Kuroda (1-3, 3.67)

Notes/Questions:

  • Is there a hotter team in the game than our Reds?  No way baby!!
  • The Reds have left the cellar of the N.L. Central with this recent hot streak.  Let’s hope it’s for good.  They now have their sights set on overtaking the Astros for third.  It’s just a matter of time!
  • Don’t look for the good fortune of getting to skip Matt Belisle in the rotation again this time.  As Tony, Toni, Tone used to tell us: “It Never Rains In Southern California”…or something like that.
  • Adam Dunn looks to extend his recent hot streak out west.  The Reds do too.  Dunn has hit a homer in four consecutive games (one shy of the club record…let’s hope he tops it this week).  Dunn has also driven in a run in seven straight.  Let’s hope both streaks are in tact when the Reds return home next week.
  • The Reds are now 17-11 against teams with winning records.  The Dodgers at 22-21 qualify…at least for the first game.  Then perhaps they’ll be 2 games below .500 when the Red-hot-legs leave town.
  • The Dodgers have now lost seven of ten games and have fallen to 5 1/2 games out of the lead in the West.  The Reds, in fourth place, are only six games out.
  • Will Bronson Arroyo keep up his torrid pace?  Let’s hope he gets a win in this one.  Last time, if you recall, the Reds blew a 6-run lead in the ninth to blow Bronson’s win…but still won the game in the 10th on Paul Janish’s first Major League hit.
  • Speaking of Janish…the kid is hitting a paltry .800 (4-for-5) and has an OBP of .833 with a walk thrown in.
  • Who’s staying up this week to watch the Redlegs sweep the Dodgers???

Yeah, I figured the 3T reference would be pretty topical…since they haven’t been around in 15 years.

Always on the “cutting edge” here at Redlegs Rundown. (btw…how do you spell that)

I think the word “hot” was used more times in your post Jeff than any other here recently on Redlegs Rundown. It’s a change to have good things to write about (winning).

I hope to keep using the word “hot” when discussing the red-HOT Cincinnati Reds!! I think we can ALL agree on that one. ;-)
