Notes/Questions/Comments:

  • What a difference three games makes, huh?  After riding the wave of a perfect homestand, the Reds lay three big fat eggs in L.A.  They are now 0-9 in their last three trips to Chavez Ravine.  UGLY!
  • Is it me or is Johnny Cueto regressing?  Who do you replace him with?…and don’t say Homer Bailey.  He doesn’t deserve to be promoted with the way he’s pitched lately.
  • There have been two Reds beat reporters (Hal McCoy and John Fay) who have discussed how they feel Jay Bruce will be up when the Reds open their next homestand.  How exciting would that be?
  • Will this be Matt Belisle’s last start in a Reds uniform?  He wasn’t bad last time (6 IP, 3ER) but it’s time for the yo yo to change directions.
  • Will Junior hit #600 on Father’s Day this year?  How about July 4th?  Labor Day?????
  • How many shortstops will the Reds go through this year?  With Jerry Hairston leaving Wednesday’s game with dizziness/dehydration, that makes three down.
  • The Reds will catch a break this weekend when they miss Jake Peavy’s start in the rotation.  Peavy is suffering from a sore right elbow and was placed on the disabled list earlier this week.  At least one bit of good news for the Reds!
  • Pop quiz: who is managing the Padres these days?  Hint: it’s not Bruce Bochy, who had managed the Padres for the previous 35 years (give or take a few).
