Redlegs Rundown
Central vastly improved
I went back one year to the date…June 10, 2007 and the Central standings were:
- Milwaukee 34-29
- St. Louis 27-33
- Chicago 27-34
- Houston 26-26
- Pittsburgh 26-37
- Cincinnati 25-39-9.5 games out of first
This year, the Reds are just three games under .500 and are STILL in last place and the exact same number of games out of first place. With the same 31-34 record, last year the Reds would currently be just four games out and in second place.
Doesn’t mean anything, but it shows how much the division has improved this year. Except for the A.L. East’s three-way tie for last between Toronto, Baltimore, and the Yankees, the Reds have the best record for a last place team.
Make you feel any better? Me neither. Last is still last. But, three under .500 beats 14 under.
