- Sunday-Reds RHP Edinson Volquez (12-3, 2.29) vs. Mets RHP Pedro Martinez (3-2, 6.25)
Notes:
- The hottest team in baseball comes to town for a 4-game set. The Mets have won nine games in a row and are threatening to take over the Phillies in the East. Pretty amazing for a team that fired its manager a month ago.
- It remains to be seen if Jerry Hairston’s hamstring will loosen up enough for him to be in the lineup to start the series. My money’s on him heading to the DL, but I hope not.
- This is a key stretch for the Redlegs. If they can find a way to win some games, they might convince management to keep the team together with hopes of a chance to win when the young pitchers mature. Lose a lot out of the gate and you might just see Dunn and/or Junior gone as well as some soon-to-be free agents like Weathers, Affeldt, Hairston Jr. and Patterson (yeah, right…who would take him??).

I think I’ll do something on Lark. He was one of my favorites of all time. I wanted to go, but there’s only Standing Room Only tickets left and I’m not going to stand the whole game with a 6 month old baby. Not fun.
