Pitching Matchups:
- Monday-Reds RHP Homer Bailey (0-3, 7.00) vs. Padres RHP Josh Banks (2-4, 3.20)
- Tuesday-Reds RHP Johnny Cueto (7-9, 4.92) vs. Padres RHP Jake Peavy (7-6, 2.66)
- Wednesday-Reds RHP Bronson Arroyo (8-7, 5.71) vs. Padres RHP Greg Maddux (3-8, 4.21)
Notes:
- With the Padres coming in with the worst record in the game, the Reds have to take advantage of it. But will they? Looking at the pitching matchups, I can’t help but be a tad pessemistic (a Reds fan’s daily feeling).
- Homer Bailey doesn’t necessarily make me feel warm and fuzzy.
- Jake Peavy against anyone in our rotation is scary.
- Maddux, while not having a good record, still has a good ERA and he faces Bronson Arroyo who, let’s face it, hates pitching during the daytime.
- The only good thing is Arroyo has won four in a row. Can he keep it rolling (so he can get picked up by another team)?
- Recipe for disaster? We’ll find out. Let’s hope I’m wrong.
- The last time the Reds faced Josh Banks was this game that may have been the beginning of the end for Aaron Harang.
- It would be cool if the Reds wore these jerseys the same day the Padres wore these. OK maybe not.
