Lopez Released
Former Red news…Felipe Lopez has been released by the Nationals. Story by MLB.com.
Remember, the Reds got screwed in “the trade”, didn’t they?
Lopez gone….Wagner still out…Kearns hurt AGAIN!
Bray? Effective lefty setup man. Majewski? Not great, but showing some improvement. Thompson? Still remains to be seen, but has shown he has big time ability.

2006 pennant won? Wait, I guess we shouldn’t judge that trade by Wayne Krivsky’s stated standard.

Are you really so stupid (yes, stupid) that you think the Reds would have won the pennant in 1996 with those two bums?

Krivsky admitted to overpaying. He certainly has egg on his face for receiving an injured player. Bullpen help did not arrived as promised in 2006. Both players were on pace for 100 runs scored, and Kearn 100 RBI at the time of the trade.

Sorry, but you cannot, simply cannot, argue Austin Kearns’ “pace” at the time. The guy has ALWAYS been “on pace” to do this or that. But he’s NEVER done it. Hurt all the time. Underperformed. Underachieved.
Glad he’s gone. Glad Lopez is gone. Gave up nothing in terms of talent. Wagner included.
