Wake breezes by slumping Tigers

Tim Wakefield extended Boston’s winning streak to 5 games tearing up the Tigers in the 5-0 win. Pitching 8 innings, Wakefield, only allowed two hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out six to improve to 3-1.

Up 3-0 in the top of the seventh David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez hit back-to-back homeruns to give the Sox some added cushion. With Ramirez’ homerun to center field he now has 497 career homeruns. This was the first time Thunder (Ortiz) and Lightning (Ramirez) have had bac-to-back jacks this season.
Star of the Game: Wake

Wakefield dominated tonight, plain and simple. His knuckleball was fluttering everywhere baffling batters beyod belief. With total command of the strike zone Wakefield earns the honors tonight.

Preview of next Game: 6 games in a row?

Clay Buchholz will hope to continue the winning streak the Red Sox have right now (Can we repost the Will Ferrell video until this losing streak is snapped?) when he goes up against Armando Galarraga (2-1, 1.88 ERA) who has been the lone bright spot in the Tigers pitching rotation. Well since this Tigers offense has been anemic let our offense keep rolling and all Buchholz has to do is keep the game under three runs and I think we win again.
