Manny hits #498; Sox drop to 10-12 on road

Even with an early lead the Boston Red Sox managed to let one slip away as the starting pitching woes continue.

Entering the bottom of the first inning with a 3-0 lead Clay Buccholz allowed two runs to come in and then five more followed before his night was over as the Twins won 7-3.

The 3-0 lead in the first inning for Boston came on a David Ortiz RBI single and Manny Ramirez’s 498th homerun, a two-run shot.  It did not last long much like Buchholz’s outing that only went 4 1/3 innings.

Goat of the Game:  Sorry Clay

7 runs, not even touching a full 5 innings of work gets Buchholz the goat here.  This pitching staff needs to shape it up.

Preview of Next Game:  Beckett our savior

Do I really need to say anything else here.  Go win one for the gipper Beckett.  And improve that road record!

Buchholz struggled with his command all night. He just did not pitch well. It happens. Young pitchers will have ups and downs. The Twins are going through it, and the Yankees are too. He will be okay.
