5/17: Game 1 - Soups back on…

Prev. Gm:

Milwaukee Brewers (20-21) @ Boston Red Sox (24-19)
Jeff Suppan (2-3, 4.63) @ Daisuke Matsuzaka (6-0, 2.45)

3:55 PM EDT | Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
TV: FOX RADIO: WRKO 680, SBN 1150

GAME NOTES:
Take 2: I’ll never really forgive Jeff Suppan for his stinking up the joint in 2003 after being “re” acquired at the trade deadline, but his gaffe in Game 3 of the 2004 World Series helped gain a little redemption. Soup’s on tonight boys…eat up!

Not to totally offend the GOM (Gods of Mojo), Janet Jackson’s “Control” continues as Dice K’s entrance song…

Drew is nowhere near the caliber of suck as Lugo. I mean…come on! Getting yourself out on a bunt?!? JD could never, EVER pull that off.

At least Ortiz knows how to throw down.

Am i the only person concerned about Pedroia’s plate discipline this season? i mean, where has it gone?
He’s not a power hitter, his value resides in his great ability to make contact and his ability to take a few walks, seriously look:

    2007 .317 .380 .442
    2008 .297 .333 .389

he’s been mediocre so far this season, he’s just hacking at everything he sees, those are Lugoesque numbers.

i’m saying this because i believe it’s time to move him from the 2nd spot and put Youk there, heck, Lugo has a better obp than Pedroia so far…

I’m going to debate that a tad and say wait a bit. Remember he slumped in the beginning of 2007 and exploded afterwards.

I’m sure Francona will observe the loss of plate discipline and talk to Dusty like the good manager he is will.

@jc…he is swinging at less balls out of the strike zone than he did last year….he is swinging at about 1% more overall pitches than last year…

now…maybe he is in a little slump…but plate discipline ain’t the problem

I wouldn’t worry too much about Dusty … as far as I remember Pedroia always was a pretty aggressive hitter … not stupidly aggressive but he doesn’t watch a whole lot of strikes … I’m not sure tho … Daloisio’s the one that is on top of that stuff

btw I love Pedroia’s swing … the bat looks as heavy as he does sometimes … I’ll never understand how he actually hits home runs
