2008 HOME RUN DERBY

2008

Yankee Stadium (Bronx, NY)

8:00 PM EDT, ESPN

LF Ryan Braun (MIL)

1B Justin Morneau (MIN)

2B Dan Uggla (FLA)

CF Josh Hamilton (TEX)

1B Lance Berkman (HOU)

CF Grady Sizemore (CLE)

2B Chase Utley (PHI)

3B Evan Longoria (TB)

GAME NOTES: Decided to put up a Home Run Derby game thread for anyone that wants to discuss. Who would have thought we'd ever see two second baseman and two center fielders in a home run derby? With the short porch in right field and the raw BP power Josh Hamilton possesses (I'm hearing amazing stories), he's my pick to win the competition over Chase Utley in the final. Thoughts? Picks? Check out the Home Run Derby Drinking Game.

I picked Josh Hamilton. Here are the other picks by Fire Branders in a previous article...

Jc says: nah, Chase Utley is da man.

Bob says: Hamilton

Steven Roth says: I got Braun and Morneau on my fantasy team so those two are my hopefuls to win. However, Hamilton is having an unbelievable year and I just know he’s going to win.

I don't think you can pick a right handed hitter in this derby, I'd be surprised if one won given the short porch in right field. As stated earlier, I'm going with Hamilton because he's got as much raw power as anyone in the game and his swing was made for Yankee Stadium.

92 percent of Chase Utley's homers this season have been hit to right field and with that short porch in right field i have no doubt this guy will win it.

Hamilton claims he can bust it OUT of the stadium...at least, I think I heard that correctly on the pregame show.

erin andrews, yay! but she's with jeter, boo! ESPN ruins everything.

Also, that desk of Steve Phillips, Joe Morgan, and Chris Berman at the same time. it's amazing the black hole of stupidity didn't swallow Yankee Stadium.

I think hamilton is the real winner of this derby. He won over the fans and definitely put on a better show for the crowd.
