BOS 4, SEA 2: Dice-K paces Sox

Daisuke Matsuzaka went 7 1/3 innings striking out six in the process leading the Boston Red Sox past the Seattle Mariners 4-2.

J.D. Drew drove in two - solo home run and sacrifice fly - to charge Boston’s offense on the night.

Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 30th save of the season in one inning of work.

Star of the Game: Matsuzaka

Dice-K was lights in early in the game especially in the second inning striking out Jeremy Reed on three pitches. From that at-bat Matsuzaka looked like he was going to be dominant and he was to earn his 11th win of the season.

Next Game: Complete the sweep

Buchholz vs. Hernandez tonight looks to be a good game to watch.

Another beautiful game to watch. Dominant DaisuK. Dominant Oki. Dominant Paps. More great bunting and baserunning by Jacoby. Lowrie boosting his average to .300 and another RBI. Pedroia, JD, Manny, Mikey, Youk oh so solid. Coco and Tek contributing. Great defense all around.

If the Sox continue to string hits together, and Buchholz can return to form today, we will beat their Ace for a road sweep, and return to Fenway on a roll for Papi’s return.

This is what I hope for come Friday. The Yanks look quite en fuego beating up on the Twins and hopefully they’ll have drained themselves when they come into Fenway.

Hopefully our pitching will be ready for them as will our offense. Drew and Dusty I’m not worried about, but some of the others might concern me.

Meh, I’m not that impressed with the Skanks. They beat an As team that was in the process of selling off its valuable parts, and a Twins team that really isn’t that good, both at home. I think the Twins are a product of playing in a terrible AL Central and luck. I’ll be impressed with the Yankees if they come to Fenway and win, but we’ve got Beckett, Wake, and Lester going. Oh and some guy named Ortiz is coming back too.

I know it won’t happen, but I would love one of those historic ass-whomping series, like a reverse Boston Massacre. I want Ortiz to hit .800/1.000/2.000 and pitch 5 shutout innings in game 3. I want to see Jeter hit into a record 15 straight first-pitch groundouts to Lowrie. I want 30,000 Madonna masks in the crowd.

And I want someone to rip off that horrible thing that’s living on giambi’s face.

That would be awesome Sean. I think some of the fire is back in the rivalry, I want to put those jokers back in their places.

By the way, is Dice-K a legitimate Cy-Young candidate now? I know about the walks, but a guy doesn’t put up numbers like his by accident. Really the only terrible start that he’s had was the one against the Cards after coming off the DL. 11-1 2.63 should be enough to get some consideration.

Why hasn’t someone checked Giambi’s credit card for purchases of drug testing supplies, he’s clearly back on the juice.

Got to go to the game last night. Dice-K is sick. I’ve never seen him in person before, and I know it was only the Mariners, but his stuff is filthy. I wish he had the confidence to just put it over the plate and see what happened, but even with the fishing he does, I am now a believer.
