Giles vetoes deal, remains in San Diego

Brian Giles has apparently vetoed the possibility of being shipped off to Boston. According to ESPN;

Among the issues that came up was location -- Giles, who grew up in San Diego, did not want to leave family behind -- and there was the concern about playing time with the Red Sox.

I'll stand by my belief that Theo and team never expected a trade to be worked out with the Padres and this move was a straight away block from Giles possibly filling a need for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Nice gambit Theo.

SHOCKER! lol

Sorry to anyone who let themselves believe this wasn't a waiver block. You must be disappointed.

So... Brian Giles' career is nearing its end... he's been a very good player for a long time... but he's been stuck on bad teams most of the time... he's been to one World Series, and that was 11 years ago... the Padres are hopeless... and by coming to Boston for a couple of months, he could have given himself a very good chance at a ring...

And he wants to stay in San Diego to get more playing time? If that's his level of motivation, I'm glad he turned us down.
