Let me guess: Beckett has a $20 million option he doesn't want the Sox to pick up?

Great job meathead. Why can't we buy a win vs Toronto?

They have pretty good pitching. The Red Sox never beat good pitchers

well we'd better hope that Chicago loses because otherwise we will only be ahead by .5 in the WC

We'd better hope Beckett puls his head out of his butt and pitches better than the #3-4 starter he's become this year.

Not real sure I'm comfortable with Buch in a relief role anymore. Or any red sox pitcher for that matter.

man, i just came home and saw this, what a pathetic perfomance by Beckett, are we really expecting this guy to take us to October glory? The only starter i feel confortable with is Lester right now, this sucks.

Well we got our asses kicked by Toronto, but remember ladies and gents there is a silver lining in this cloud, perhaps a few:

1. This kick in the ass reminds us that we're still not invincible and we still have lots of work to do.

2. Even with the Yanks winning and the possibility of the Rays winning, we're still 5 games ahead of the Chokers and leading the WC.

3. Our offense is getting hits, but just can't link them together. Perhaps some therapeutic wins are in order.

4. Despite what you saw in the KC/NY game, the Yanks will run out of steam once LA comes to play.

OUCH!!!

But more silver llning stuff:

1. Ellsbury, hitting leadoff, led off the game with a single.

2. Youk, Pedroia, Lowrie keep on hitting.

3. Bailey got his 1st double, a sign of things to come.

4. Now that Dustin is a mature 25, he has more pop, with two HR in two days. Will he hit 20?????

5. Will Youk hit 30?

6. Cora, at this critical time with Mike and Julio hurt, keeps hitting, 2 - 4 today, raising his average to 296.

6. Tek got a hit. A few more like that and his average will rise out of the bottom 25% of BA for ML catchers.

7. This unhappy game was one in which our hard hits were aimed right at the defense, while the Jays hard hits found gaps and holes. It was meant to be.

8. The Jays were equal opportunity hitters against our bullpen. Only Paps got away, and only just.

Now, after hitting bottom, we are ready for another road trip from hell.

Since end of May, we have beaten Baltimore 7 of 10.

If we win this series, and the amazing Angels are able to pound the Rays at the Trop, then we will be in striking distance of 1st place in a few days. The heck with the wild card.

Texas shut down the Rays diminished lineup tonite. Beckett, Daisuke, Buchholz could do the same.

Here's a prediction, maybe based on hope, but moreso on the odds: this road trip expect J.Bay, Papi and Ells to join the POP Brothers, Youk , Pedroia and Lowrie. And aren't JD and Bailey due to heat up about now?

Correction: Lester, Diasuke, Buchholz. Beckett will have to wait until this weekend in Toronto for his revenge.
