in what freak universe is Kotsay a better hitter than Bay? is there a freaking law that says Bay can't hit 4th??? i don't get it.

BTW, did anyone else see the news that Carlos Quentin is out of the season. I'm in Chicago so its big news here. That's really going to hurt them down the stretch against the Twins for the division and the Sox for the Wild Card.
As a side note, I guess it thins the MVP race a bit for Pedroia if he can keep the pace up.

as hot as the team has been and as well as he has been clobbering the ball, I woulda left D-Ped in the 4 hole. We need to win this series so we got the momentum going into big series next week.

Keep in mind, also, that Bay is 3 for his last 23 with 9 strikeouts. But, on that note, I would've put Kotsay in the two-hole and left Pedroia in the cleanup spot.
Regardless, I'm a bit more concerned about what'll happen if Beckett's pitch-count only carries him through 3-4 innings. Our bullpen against that lineup worries me. Wouldn't be surprised if this is another one of those double-digit scoring affairs.
Though, now that I said that, prepare for a 2-1 duel.

Gah forgot it was an 8:00 start. Can we just get rid of the whole Central Time Zone? I love the West Coast and I'm cool with mountain time (snowboarding in Colorado), but the whole Central Time Zone is just boring to me, we can keep Chicago and Austin, but the rest can go.

Haha, Sean O...you know, I've got a Giordanos about four blocks from my place and I have to say I can never have enough of their deep dish. Love the sausage particularly, but anything deep dish is great.
That said, can't stand how they cut pan pizza into squares instead of slices and I really miss good North End pan pizza sometimes.

The Malnatis sausage is atrocious, but Giordanos does it just right. Then again, the Malnati's Pepperoni is way way better.
Try the Numero Uno at Due's (NOT Uno's; why wait twice as long in a place twice as crowded for the exact same food?). As someone who's had a fair bit of pizza, it's by far the best.
....go sox?

That sucks for Quentin...good for whoever will host the White Sox in round one...hopefully we pass TB and host Chicago rather then head out West. I'm guessing we'll see a healthy dose of Pauley tonight with Beckett's count...hope the sinker is going well against this line-up.
I wish ESPN was showing the Mets/Phils game...that should be an interesting series. My hatred of the Mets almost rivals the Yankees for some reason and not just because of '86. Speaking of ESPN if anyone is even a casual boxing fan they should watch ESPN fights tonight, James Kirkland is a beast...highly entertaining big puncher.

Sean O, glad you agree on the sausage at Giordanos. i'll have to check out Due sometime.
I'm on the South Side so I generally go to White Sox games because they're way cheaper than Fenway (Cubs are almost as bad as Boston price wise) and I've grown to like the ballpark and the atmosphere. Love seeing Red Sox-White Sox here too.
I also just like White Sox fans more than Cubs ones. They're more passionate about baseball and less about getting wasted and enjoying Wrigley (Hello Cubs fans!) The saying with Cubs fans is that if you turned the seats around, the Cubby fans would be way happier staring at Wrigley than at the team on the field.

Lowell, Beckett, Casey are back, with Drew, Colon and Aardsma next week? Add all the seasoned subs, and that's about 120% of capacity. Primed and ready!
Following Wake tomorrow, Lopez, Pauley, Timlin, Pap are available. Wake needs a win. Paps needs a save. I wonder why, with tonight's score, Pauley and Timlin weren't used instead of Monsterson and Oki?
If Theo were to go for AJ Burnett as a FA, what would he cost? Would BJ Ryan make a matched set (instead of Fuentes, Buchholz, Street)? BJ looked good against the Rays tonight.

Almost picked up Morrow on my money league today. That kid has some awesome skills but I didn't want to jinx him against the Yanks. At least no one else grabbed him. Way to go kiddo, hope you stick as a 3 in the rotation.
