Cabrera: Eight Years, $152M

Miguel Cabrera’s going to be a very wealthy Tiger, now that he and the club have agreed on eight years and $152 million in a preliminary deal—the third-highest such deal in terms of annual salary (Cabrera’s: $21 million) for a position player (Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter remain ahead of him) and the fourth overall (Johan Santana is number three on the overall list) at this writing. Not to mention the richest in Tiger history. (Magglio Ordonez had the previous high, $75 million over five years signed in 2004.)

All that remains to make it final: a physical exam scheduled for 24 March.
