Pitchers and Catchers and Kittens Report
Happy P&C Day! Happy Valentine’s Day! Happy Day of BASEBALL AND MANY YAYS.
Of course this is a happy, feel-good day, but Tom Gage of the Detroit News wants to RUIN IT ALL by writing that Brandon Inge may still be traded.
I mean, jeez, people, I thought we were SO OVER this. I understand that his salary is ridiculous for a bench guy. I understand that he didn’t hit beans last season. I understand that he spent much of the offseason making sulky McSulk faces about maybe having to go back to catching…. BUT I THOUGHT WE WERE OVER THIS.
Didn’t Inge agree to not whine and moan anymore? Didn’t he agree to do whatever he had to do (including CATCHING) to stay in Detroit, after the team had tried and failed to fairly trade him?
I would like to get off this rollercoaster, please.
Rotoworld seems to think that San Francisco could be a target for Inge-trading again. I don’t see why the Giants would agree to take on his salary and his (non)bat when no one else in the league would before, but I freely admit that it’s possible the Giants are a) in dire need of a defensive infield star and b) an organization run by a pack of rabid marmosets with early-onset dementia.
Ugh. Whatever. Pitchers and catchers report today. I shall grit my teeth and have happy times. Enjoy the thought of baseball players and sun.

Ooooo, dig that image. Of course I liked the original too (which was also one of yours, right?), but the edited version is sweet. :)
(ignoring Brandon Inge news now)

Ha ha, yup, the original was from Tigers Bloggers Day. Well spotted.

With Wilson’s elbow still a concern, and Pudge entering what will probably be his last season with the Tigers, I think the Tigers will be less willing to trade Inge, as he might be the leading candidate to be the starting catcher in 2009-and the backup this year.

yay! my favorite section of copa. I am so ready to leave mt. pleasant and go watch some baseball in the D.
I love Brandon Inge. He has always been my favorite cat, and his section in the little “pop culture grid” in SI was one of the more hilarious things of all time. But.. but but but, if we can get relief pitching for his bat, then it might be worth it. (Okay, it totally is worth it.)
but I’ll be sad to see him go.
